The Band...!
Dave "Stig" Jones - Guitar, Vocals, Harmonica
Originally from: Hoxley-on-Thames, London, England
Interests: Birds, drinkin an smoking
Stig was one of 12 children born to Bronwyn and Arwyn Jones. The Jones’s fled to London to escape the persecution of the Welsh in Wales by the Scottish. On Thursday nights, when it was his turn to wear the shoes, Stig would hang outside the stage door of the Orpheus Theatre where the top acts of the 1950’s would be playing. Soon he was sneaking into the theatre and eventually got caught leaving a venue with a guitar that he’d borrowed from one of the acts, when they wasn’t lookin like.
After a brief stay in the “Spenthill Home for Boys”, where it was by chance, that he met Eddy, he was freed to pursue his musical dream with his new bassplayer.
After “acquiring” some instruments, the two set off to find the rest of the band, preferably ones who could play instruments!
Actually...Dave has a long history in music as well as being one of the founders and lead singer of the "Wharf Street Band"
"Kent" Dartford - Lead Guitar, Vocals, Keys
Originally from: Kent, England
Interests: Birds, dancing, smokin an drinkin
Kent was born in a small mining town of Coal-on-Campbell in the county he was named after. He received a second hand guitar for his 11th birthday and quickly began setting his favorite dirty limericks to old folk songs. At 13, he successfully auditioned for local skiffle group “Chester and the Blacklungs” and was soon performing at saloons all around the county.
When the Blacklungs disbanded in the midst of a miner’s strike, Kent moved to London and established himself in the burgeoning blues-rock scene. While in London, he was mentored by legendary bluesman “Long-Shanks MacFeely” in the arts of stage presence, pint pilfering and bird pulling. Kent fled England for a brief stay in Amsterdam in the aftermath of the notorious “dirty tea cup” scandal. A Swedish rock magazine recently listed Kent among the “5000 nearly memorable guitarists of all time”.
Kent is actually a musical genius and has a long history of music in Victoria and currently produces music for local musicians as well as playing in his own original band.
"Eddy" Special (Special Ed) - Bass Guitar, Vocals
Originally from – “Spenthill Home for Boys"
Interests - birds, and um...what was the question again?
No one is really sure where Eddy came from as one day he appeared in a wicker basket on the door step of Spenthill. He was 15 at the time and just learning to talk. Eddy used to dream of loosening the straps of his bed and crawling out into the night to seek fame and fortune in the world.
It was 1958 when Stig arrived at Spenthill. The boys instantly hit it off. Well that is to say they instantly started hitting each other. After a while and a few visits to hospital they both realized that they were a lot alike and decided to form a rock & roll band.
The rest as they say...is history!
Truth be told that Eddy has a long history as a touring musician throughout the 70's and 80's and currently plays with another band called Shorty Parker here in Victoria.
"Kenneth" Nova (Kenniff) - Drums, Vocals
Originally from - East End, London
Interests - birds, and ittin things with sticks!
“Kenniff” is the newest member of the band. He replaces “Beat Pest” who was better looking than Kent so we had to let him go. Ken was discovered working in a rock quarry in Middle Sex where he was employed as a rock splitters apprentice. After some coaxing by the lads he decided to give up his career and focus on music…something he’d never really given any thought to...prior to that moment.
Ken is known as a wildman on the drums and typically wears out 6 kits per night. Safety glasses are issued to the front row at every performance!
Ken has a long history as a touring musician. He toured with the Hanson Brothers and also played with the Showbusiness Giants to name a few.
